Directions to Deerview Cabin

From Atlanta Going North on Ga. 400

From Atlanta, go north on Georgia 400. (If you're running low on gas, exit 14 is about the last chance for cheap gas.) Go north on Georgia 400 until it ends. Turn left toward Dahlonega. Go 5 miles. At a traffic light turn right on Georgia 19/60. There's a new Moe's Grill on the left of the intersection. (As you leave Dahlonega, there's a Super WalMart on the right. This will be your last supermarket before the cabin.) Continue for 7.9 miles until 60 splits off by the R Ranch sign. Take a left (sorta looks like you're going straight) onto Georgia 60 toward Suches. There will be a big pile of rocks at the intersection. Continue into Union County at Woody Gap across the Applachian Trail. Continue through Suches. It's 7.2 miles from the R Ranch sign to Suches. Continue on 60 about 10 miles through Suches into Fannin County. At milepost 1, turn right into Browns Mill Mountain division. It's 9.5 miles from Suches to the driveway of Browns Mill Mountain. At the fork in the drive, take a left. Ours is the first cabin on the right after the fork. Look for the Deerview Cabin sign and the blue reflective markers.

From Atlanta Going North on I-75

Go I-75 to I-575. Keep going after I-575 turns to 515. Go through Jasper and Ellijay. (Right before Ellijay will be a Super WalMart on the right. This is about your last supermarket/cheap gas before the cabin.) After passing through Ellijay exit onto Georgia 52 at about 0.7 miles past milepost 10. At the end of the exit, turn left. Proceed east on Georgia 52 for 4.8 miles. Turn left onto Big Creek Road. Sellers Orchard will be on the left before Big Creek Road. Continue for 14.5 miles and turn left onto Newport Road. (If the road turns to a gravel road, you've overshot Newport by about a tenth of a mile. Go back.) Continue 4.8 miles on Newport Road until it dead-ends into Dial Road. Turn right onto Dial Road. Continue on 2.5 miles on Dial Road until it dead-ends into Georgia 60. Turn right onto Georgia 60. Continue south on Georgia 60 for 6.4 miles. At milepost 1, turn left into Browns Mill Mountain division. At the fork in the drive, take a left. Ours is the first cabin on the right after the fork. Look for the Deerview Cabin sign and the blue reflective markers.

Notes on the Different Ways

Going up 400 and through Dahlonega is shorter. AAA says even from Marietta, it's the shorter of the two ways. The Georgia 400 through Dahlonega route also has much more spectacular views. The Georgia 400 through Dahlonega route has MANY more curves. If you're prone to carsickness, the Georgia 400 through Dahlonega route may not be for you. Take your choice.
